Imprint (Germany)
Germany requires additional information from a webshop: an imprint with company details, a prescribed withdrawal notice and a model withdrawal form. This page carries the German-language version.
Draft text. These terms cover the required topics but have not yet been checked by a lawyer. Have them reviewed before the shop opens.
Why this page exists
Selling actively to German consumers from the Netherlands brings you under German consumer law. Enforcement there runs through Abmahnungen: competitors and interest groups may write to you and recover their costs. A missing imprint or a deviating withdrawal notice is the most common trigger.
The German version of this page carries the full text. Have it checked by a German lawyer before you advertise actively in Germany.
What changes when selling to Germany
VAT: above the EU distance-selling threshold you charge German VAT (19% instead of 21%) and remit it through the one-stop shop. We keep the price the customer sees the same; only the VAT breakdown on the invoice changes.
Shipping: a pallet to Germany costs € 129 and takes longer. That is stated on the product page and in the cart, not at the last step of checkout.
Returns: the statutory period is fourteen days; we give thirty. Return shipping is at the customer's cost, and for pallet shipments that is a real amount — we say so explicitly.
