VisualisationTwo 40 cm fronts side by side. Here a sink and a two-burner hob fit next to each other in the worktop, and that is the difference between cooking and reheating. Two drawers above two doors, and room below for a 40 litre cool box.

What customers thought
There is nothing here yet, and that is correct: this is a new business and we do not publish reviews that do not exist. Once the first customers have taken delivery, this is where you will read what they thought — including what disappointed them, because nobody believes a page with only five stars.
Are you the first? Tell us how it went — including anything that went wrong. We publish it unedited, with our answer below it. info@vanquarters.com
What you still buy yourself for this
We do not sell electrics, plumbing or gas, so you buy this elsewhere. Here is what it has to meet, so you do not have to guess. There is not a single affiliate link: the moment we earn something on it, the advice is worthless.
- Sink
- Round, 34 cm across at most, or rectangular up to 34 × 34 cm. Deeper than 15 cm will not clear the drawer.
- Tap
- Low pressure or with a pressure switch. A folding tap helps if there is a locker above it.
- Hob
- Two-burner gas, cut-out 47 × 34 cm at most. Induction works too but needs at least 100 Ah of lithium and a 2,000 W inverter.
- Fridge or cool box
- Compressor type. The Kitchen 1066 takes 45 cm wide up to 65 litres; the 1266 up to 90 litres. Leave 3 cm of ventilation behind and above.
- Water pump and tank
- A submersible pump with pressure switch is simplest. The routing is already there; you pick the tank size.
Tools you need
- 4 mm hex key — included
- Cordless driver with a cross-head bit
- Tape measure and pencil
- Spirit level of at least 40 cm
- Drill with an 8 mm bit for the floor fixings
How you assemble it
Six phases, and each phase ends with a check. That is the difference between a unit that stands crooked and one that fits.
- 1
Lay everything out
Sort the profiles by length and lay them on the marked place of the floor poster. Count the corner connectors and T-nuts before you start.
Check now: Do the counts match the packing list? One missing T-nut costs you an hour later.
- 2
Build the base frame
Join the four bottom profiles with the corner connectors, finger tight. Do not tighten yet: the frame has to move to get it square.
Check now: Measure both diagonals. Equal within 2 mm means it is square. If not: push the long diagonal in and measure again.
- 3
Add the uprights
Place the vertical profiles at the corners and the intermediate positions. The middle upright sits exactly between two fronts and decides whether your doors will close.
Check now: Put the spirit level against each upright. Everything plumb before you continue.
- 4
Panels in and tighten
Slide the plywood panels into the frame and only then tighten all the corner connectors, from bottom to top and always diagonally opposite.
Check now: Any play between panel and profile? The panels are structural; loose wood will rattle on the road.
- 5
Hang and adjust the fronts
Clip the hinges in and adjust them with the two screws: the front one for left-right, the rear one for depth.
Check now: Are the gaps between the fronts equal everywhere? Three millimetres is right — that clearance is built into the front.
- 6
Fix it in the van
Bolt the unit into the body's original mounting points, or through the floor with a spreader plate underneath. Never into the wall lining alone.
Check now: Grab the unit at the top and pull firmly. If anything moves, it will move in an emergency stop too.
What people ask about this
- Is a worktop included?
- Yes, cut to size, edged and sealed, with the cut-outs already made. You do not have to do anything to it except lay it on.
- Can I cook on induction?
- It fits, but it needs at least 100 Ah of lithium and a 2,000 W inverter. On a lead battery you manage one pan of water and then your battery is flat.
How this size comes about
This unit is a frame of 20 × 20 mm aluminium extrusion that goes around the fronts, fastened with corner connectors. So the external size is not a round number we made up, but the result of a sum.
Fronts in this set
- 40 × 40 cm(397 × 397 mm)
- 40 × 40 cm(397 × 397 mm)
- 40 × 40 cm(397 × 397 mm)
- 40 × 40 cm(397 × 397 mm)
- External width
- 400 + 400 + 20 × 3 = 866 mm
- Frame height
- 400 + 400 + 20 × 3 = 860 mm
- External height
- 860 + 28 = 888 mm
